Family Guy was cancelled twice on FOX. The first time, it was cancelled for a very short time in 2000, shortly after Season 2. The ratings for Family Guy were very low, so Fox took it off it’s regular schedule. However, they decided to bring it back right after they cancelled.
It was cancelled again in 2002, after Season 3, due to low ratings. Cartoon Network decided to buy the rights to Family Guy and started airing it on Adult Swim where it became Adult Swim’s most watched show, that’s when Family Guy really gained its popularity. After this, Family Guy was relaesed on DVD and sold alot of copies, since then, the show has been on air. Also, after this, FOX decided to bring it back on its network too.
